Architect and critic
Fredy Massad (Buenos Aires, 1966) is an architect from the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Urban Planning of the University of Buenos Aires. He is currently associate professor at the School of Architecture of the University of Navarra and ad honorem visiting professor at the University of Buenos Aires. of Navarra and visiting professor ad honorem at the University of Buenos Aires. He is also director of the Foro América, a joint initiative of the University of Navarra and the the Pan-American Federation of Architects’ Associations.
Since 2004, he has been an architecture critic for the ABC newspaper and author of the cultural blog La viga en el ojo, where he approaches contemporary architecture from a perspective that questions the imposed narratives and the architectural star-system.architectural system. His publications include La viga en el ojo. Escritos a tiempo (2015) and Crítica de choque ( 2018), work awarded with the XVII Premio SCA CPAU de Arquitectura Argentina.
Massad has interviewed figures such as Frank Gehry, Norman Foster and Toyo Ito, and regularly gives keynote lect ures at universities and cultural events.
